The 'Equipment Utilisation' report (see 'Reports' > 'Equipment Utilisation' in Traffio) summarises how effectively each piece of equipment is being used over periods of time.

Unlike vehicles and people, the utilisation of equipment is not based on hours but how many times a piece of equipment is deployed over a 24 hour period (12am to 12am).

The 'Utilisation' value in this report is the number of times a piece of equipment is deployed as a ratio of the 'baseline' for the 'Aggregation Period'. For example, if you set the 'Aggregation Period' to 'Week', the baseline is 7 - one deployment per day which equates to 100% utilisation. Likewise, if you set your 'Aggregation Period' to 'Month', your baseline is 31 (more accurately, the number of days in that particular month).

Complete Example

With these facts in mind, here's a complete example;

  • On August 3, 2021, an arrow board is deployed on a job from 6am - 12pm and then on another job from 2pm the same day right through to 2pm on August 5.

  • The 'Aggregation Period' is set to 'Week'.

  • On August 3, the arrow board is deployed twice; once from 6am - 12pm and again 2pm - 12am (10 hours) - 2 deployments.

  • On August 4, the arrow board is deployed once from 12am - 12am (24 hours).

  • On August 5, the arrow board is deployed once from 12am - 2pm (14 hours).

  • The 'Utilisation' of this arrow board for the calendar week (assuming there are no other deployments) is 4 / 7 = 57%.

Other Key Points

  • The report only considers equipment that is deployed on bookings which have a status of; Green To Go, Completed, Finalised, Part Invoiced or Invoiced.

  • The report takes into account equipment-only bookings that span multiple days or weeks.

  • Utilisation for the final day of equipment deployed across two or more days is only counted if the time at which the booking ends would normally incur an extra day - ie; if the hour at which the booking ends is greater than the hour at which the booking started.

  • For report date ranges that do not fall precisely on a calendar week (or month or year), only the number of days included in those periods are considered when determining the baseline for the 'Utilisation' value.
