Near Miss = A 'near miss' is when an incident nearly happened but didn't.

For example, a Traffic Controller was nearly hit by a car.

Through industry discussions and feedback Traffio has been made aware of the challenges that the traffic control industry faces when it comes to safety and risk and how 'near miss' incidences make a traffic controller’s role dangerous.

Whilst near misses are known to be a common occurrence, there are currently no statistics or reports to back up this claim which makes it difficult to gain recognition of the dangers of the role and the ability to effectively create change.

To support the industry, Traffio has developed and implemented a new feature in the mobile application for users to quickly and easily report a 'near miss' incident from anywhere inside the app.

The near miss report collects submissions from across all of our customers to provide a holistic picture of the potential dangers in the industry. The report will be summarised and provided at a later date to help share industry stats, and to support change makers.

Please note this does not replace or pull data from any existing accident/incident report forms you may have.

Example of what the form looks like through the mobile application.

Common FAQ

Can I remove my submission once I have submitted it?

You will be prompted before submitting the form that you are unable to make any further changes. You are unable to delete your form once you have submitted it.

Is my submission anonymous?

Your employer is able to see who has made a submission but when the data is summarised for the industry report, personal details will be anonymous.

Does this replace my incident/accident report? / Is this a duplication of my incident report?

No. The near miss report is purely for near miss incidents that didn't result in an actual accident, alongside any reporting that you would do for your business.

If an actual accident/incident occurs you will need to properly report and investigate as per your company's reporting.
