This article shows you how to create a new skill in the system and why they're handy to use.

How to create a skill

Examples of skills are - Covid-19 vaccination, White Card, First Aid, Manuel License, Heavy Vehicle License, specific site induction or training, Company induction and so on.

  1. Navigate to People then click Skills

  2. Click New

  3. Enter skill name, skill type. Site ticket is a skill that is required onsite whereas vehicle skill is a certain license

  4. If this skill makes someone qualified to be a certain specialisation on the booking board, set it in the specialisation section

5. Set a lifetime period

6. Set notification period. This is the time frame in which the system will notify you of when someone's skill is close to expiring

7. Click Save.

Where skills come into play

Skills are used while creating new projects. Setting a skill or induction requirement for that project means when you are adding resources to that job, you will get a warning if you try to add anyone who does not have the correct skills linked to them.
