This integration combines Verizon Connect's vehicle GPS tracking system with Traffio's booking and scheduling software to give you full oversight of your fleet's operations.

Along with current location data, you can view vehicle's past journeys and also generate reports for vehicle usage outside of allocated bookings. This allows you to closely monitor your fleet to ensure accountability and better manage vehicle efficiency.

This integration also keeps track of which drivers are assigned to which vehicles over time, using Traffio data as the source of truth. Note: For customers who prefer to use Verizon's driver identification key fobs, this feature is disabled by default.

Getting started

Contact Verizon to create a Verizon Connect Reveal account and request integration with Traffio. Once your account has been activated, you will receive your Traffio app login credentials from Verizon to be used within Traffio.

Enable the integration in Traffio

Note: Only managers can enable this integration.

Navigate to Admin in the left sidebar and click on the Traffio Config tab in the top menu.

From the list of configurations, click on Verizon Connect Integration. Then, under the Option dropdown menu select Verizon Connect Enabled and click save.

Format vehicle data in the Verizon Connect Reveal portal

Note: Verizon users do not have the ability to create vehicles within their Reveal account. For every GPS tracking unit purchased and installed, a vehicle record will be created in Verizon.

Log in to your Verizon Connect Reveal account portal. Click on the profile drop-down icon in the top right corner of the screen and click on Admin.

From here, click on the Vehicle List link located under the Vehicles heading and select the pencil “edit” icon at the end of each corresponding vehicle’s row.

Enter a value into the Vehicle Number field and click save.
This is the primary key identifier which will be used when linking this vehicle to its corresponding vehicle in Traffio.

Note: Vehicle’s without a saved Vehicle Number will NOT be imported into Traffio.

It is strongly recommended to use the vehicle’s registration number for the “Vehicle Number” field.

Connect to your Verizon account in Traffio

Navigate to Vehicles in the left sidebar and Click on the Verizon Settings tab in the top menu.

From here, click on the New button and enter a Centre name.

The centre name is simply used as a reference to this Verizon account's connection within Traffio.

Auto driver assignments

If you wish to enable auto driver assignments, toggle-on the Auto-generate driver assignments button, then press the Create button.

If enabled, Traffio will automatically push driver-to-vehicle assignments to Verizon for all linked drivers & vehicles. Ongoing assignments will be based on vehicles assigned to individual people in Traffio, and temporary assignments will be based on specific driver allocations from completed bookings.

Ongoing assignments are pushed to Verizon whenever a linked vehicle is assigned or re-assigned to a linked person in Traffio. They are also pushed when a new linked vehicle or person is created.

When a linked person is un-assigned a linked vehicle in Traffio, the ongoing assignment will be removed in Verizon.

Temporary assignments are created when a works docket is submitted for the driver, confirming they worked the shift.

Note: If you are using Verizon's driver identification key fobs, this feature should be disabled.

Once you've created a centre, enter your Traffio app login credentials (obtained from Verizon) and click on the Connect button.

Then, click on the Sync with Verizon Connect button to import your Verizon Connect account's data into Traffio.

Syncing with Verizon

The “Sync with Verizon Connect” button will:

  • Import your vehicles from Verizon into Traffio along with their current locations to be displayed on the 'Vehicle Locations' map.

  • Initially import the last 30 days worth of vehicle GPS history data.

Please allow for up to a few minutes for the sync process to complete.

From then on, new data from Verizon Connect will automatically be imported into Traffio in the background twice per day.

Review drivers and push more people to Verizon if required

Click on the Link Drivers tab.

Traffio will have automatically pushed people deemed to be 'drivers' to Verizon and matched them here.

This is determined by people who are currently assigned to a vehicle in Traffio, or who have been marked as driver in past bookings.

To push recently created people in Traffio to Verizon, click on the + button beside their name. The person will be pushed to Verizon to be created as a new driver and automatically linked in Traffio.

Please note: Don't create drivers within the Verizon Reveal portal. This integration is designed to automate the driver creation process for you.

If drivers were created within the Verizon portal prior to connecting to Traffio, those drivers will have been imported into Traffio. However you will now need to match them with their corresponding employees in Traffio here, click save, and then push any other desired people to Verizon as detailed above.

Link Traffio vehicles to imported Verizon Connect vehicles

Click on the Link Vehicles tab.

From here, match the vehicles in Traffio (from the left column) with the vehicles imported from Verizon Connect (in the right column) by selecting the corresponding values from the dropdown list. When matched, click on the save button.

Traffio will automatically suggest close or identical matches. If the suggested matches are correct you can just click the save button.
