As part of our continuous improvement to the Traffio platform we are currently undergoing a multi-stage payroll upgrade to allow more flexibility and cover more functionality requested by our customers.

Stage One

In our first stage, we are released the EBA feature.

What is an EBA? / What is an EBA in Traffio?

EBA is a known term in employment and stands for Enterprise Bargaining Agreement. It’s typically when a group of employees negotiate with their employer for a set of rates and benefits, which is agreed to and signed in a contract.

The new EBA functionality in Traffio pulled all the rate calculation configurations, and all the allowances out of the payroll cost centre and into an ‘EBA’. This allows companies to have the one payroll cost centre set up with their external payroll system (e.g. MYOB) but allows flexibility to override those rate calculation settings for particular shifts.

Traffio has used the term ‘EBA’ for our new functionality as each ‘EBA’ represents a set of rate calculations and allowance options. Even if there is not technically a signed EBA agreement, it’s a similar concept that has an intuitive understanding in the industry.

What did Stage One include?

Stage One automatically created an ‘EBA’ per payroll cost centre in each customer's portal. This EBA was assigned to the payroll cost centre it came from and included all the existing settings for rate calculations and allowances.

Whilst no action was required from you, if you have not yet, we do recommend that you set a name for your newly created EBA.

From this release, you can now create new EBA's, and in the pay run manually override the EBA.

Stage Two

This stage will include the ability to add EBA conditions to a payroll cost centre so a person's shift will automatically calculate what EBA should be selected in the pay run.

To find out more about the different EBA conditions that you can set, see our Knowledge Base article here.

Similar to the current functionality of the 'Shift' button in the pay run, the EBA button will be blue when the calculated EBA is assigned. If you decide to manually override the EBA, the button will turn orange. Your overridden change will remain, even if you update the pay run.

What's next after Stage Two?

After Stage Two, we will work through some customer feature requests for payroll and will continue to make enhancements to bring you efficiency and ease. Customer requests are front of mind and we aim to incorporate them in future iterations to meet the needs and requests.
