Split Friday Saturday

If enabled, at the end of Friday (midnight), hours will be placed into the Saturday payable hours.

If you have enabled Saturday Ordinary, after Friday,

  • hours will be placed into 'Saturday Ordinary' until the limit set in 'Sat ordinary hrs limit'

  • then hours will be placed into 'Day Overtime' until the 'Saturday ‘Day Overtime' hrs limit’,

  • and finally any remaining hours will be placed into 'Day Extra Overtime'

The hours on Friday will be included in the hourly limit count for Saturday, see examples below with how they are used.

Example #1 - Using Saturday Ordinary

Settings

  • Use Weekday shift (Split Day/Night) = enabled

  • Timeframe

    • Day: 06:00 am - 06:00pm

    • Night 06:00pm - 06:00 am

  • Payable hours

    • Day

      • Day Ordinary hrs limit: 8.00

      • Day Overtime hrs limit: 7.00

    • Night

      • Night Ordinary hrs limit: 2.00

      • Night Overtime hrs limit: 6.00

    • Saturday Ordinary = enabled

      • Saturday Ordinary hrs limit: 8.00

Result

Shift: 6:00pm - 5:00am

How it's broken down

06:00 pm - 08:00 pm = 2 hours (Night Ordinary hrs limit)

-> Night Ordinary (N1.5x)

08:00 pm - 12:00 am = 4 hours (Night Overtime hrs limit)

-> Night Overtime (N2x)

12:00 am - 02:00 am = 2 hours (Saturday Ordinary hrs limit, includes hrs from Night timeframe 2+4 = 6. 6 + 2 = 8)

-> Saturday Ordinary (Sat Ord)

02:00 am - 03:00 am = 1 hour (Saturday ‘Day Overtime' hrs limit, includes hrs from Night Overtime 4+1 = 5)

-> Day Overtime (1.5x)

03:00 am - 05:00 am = 2 hours

-> Day Extra Overtime (2x)

To compare, this is the result with 'Split Friday Saturday' disabled.

No Sat Ord or Day payable hours used

Example #2 - NOT using Saturday Ordinary

Settings

  • Use Weekday shift (Split Day/Night) = enabled

  • Timeframe

    • Day: 06:00 am - 06:00pm

    • Night 06:00pm - 06:00 am

  • Payable hours

    • Day

      • Day Ordinary hrs limit: 8.00

      • Day Overtime hrs limit: 7.00

      • Saturday first rate hours limit: 5.00

    • Night

      • Night Ordinary hrs limit: 2.00

      • Night Overtime hrs limit: 6.00

    • Saturday Ordinary = disabled

Result

Shift: 6:00pm - 5:00am

How it's broken down

06:00 pm - 08:00 pm = 2 hours (Night Ordinary hrs limit)

-> Night Ordinary (N1.5x)

08:00 pm - 12:00 am = 4 hours (Night Overtime hrs limit)

-> Night Overtime (N2x)

12:00 am - 01:00 am = 1 hour (Saturday ‘Day Overtime' hrs limit, includes hrs from Night Overtime 4+1 = 5)

-> Day Overtime (1.5x)

01:00 am - 05:00 am = 4 hours

-> Day Extra Overtime (2x)

Example #3 - Using Sat Ordinary with different hour limits

Settings

  • Use Weekday shift (Split Day/Night) = enabled

  • Timeframe

    • Day: 06:00 am - 06:00pm

    • Night 06:00pm - 06:00 am

  • Payable hours

      • Day Overtime hrs limit: 7.00

      • Saturday first rate hours limit: 5.00

    • Night

      • Night Ordinary hrs limit: 2.50

      • Night Overtime hrs limit: 6.00

    • Saturday Ordinary = enabled

      • Saturday Ordinary hrs limit: 4.00

Result

Notice that the 'Saturday Ord' hours column is not used because the 'Saturday Ordinary hrs limit' was reached with the hours taken on Friday.

How it's broken down

06:00 pm - 08:30 pm = 2.5 hours (Night Ordinary hrs limit)

-> Night Ordinary (N1.5x)

08:30 pm - 12:00 am = 3.5 hours (Night Overtime hrs limit)

-> Night Overtime (N2x)

12:00 am - 01:30 am = 1.5 hours (Saturday ‘Day Overtime' hrs limit, includes hrs from Night Overtime 3.5+1.5 = 5)

-> Day Overtime (1.5x) - uses Sat default payable hours.

01:30 am - 02:00 am = 0.5 hours

-> Day Extra Overtime (2x) - uses Sat default payable hours.

To compare, this is the result with 'Split Friday Saturday' disabled.

Why does it go into Night payable hours?

The article has stated this because generally speaking it's true. However it is based on the week breakdown selected in the EBA detail page, like the screenshot below.

For instance, if week breakdown 6 was selected...

This would be the result...

Because after the Sunday Ordinary hrs limit, the default Sunday overtime goes into Day Extra Overtime payable hours.

Split Public Holiday

If enabled, at the end of the public holiday (midnight), hours will be placed into Night, Saturday or Sunday payable hours (depends on the day the public holiday falls on).

Assuming the public holiday was on Tuesday, after Tuesday

  • hours will be placed into 'Night Ordinary' until the limit set in 'Night ordinary hrs limit'

  • then hours will be placed into 'Night Overtime' until the ‘Night Overtime hrs limit’,

  • and finally any remaining hours will be placed into 'Night Extra Overtime'

The hours on the public holiday will be included in the hourly limit count for the next day, see examples below with how they are used.

Example

Settings

  • Use Weekday shift (Split Day/Night) = enabled

  • Timeframe

    • Day: 06:00 am - 06:00pm

    • Night 06:00pm - 06:00 am

How it's broken down

06:00 pm - 12:00 am = 6 hours (Public Holiday Ordinary hrs limit)

-> Public Holiday Ordinary (PHol Ord)

12:00 am - 04:00 am = 4 hours (Night Overtime hrs limit)

-> Night Overtime (N2x)

04:00 am - 05:00 am = 1 hour (Night Extra Overtime hr limit)
