This article goes over the travel allowance within an EBA

In Traffio, allowances are calculated separately from the employee's hourly salary rates and are considered an additional value.

On the EBA detail page, scroll down to the 'Rates & Allowances Display Columns' table.

When you enable the "Travel allowance" toggle, an additional settings block will appear at the bottom.


Travel Allowance Dropdown Menu

The travel allowance dropdown contains 13 options, which will be explained below:

Dropdown Options

No One

No one gets this travel allowance

Everyone

Everyone gets this travel allowance

Drivers Only

Only drivers are eligible for the travel allowance.

A person is considered a driver if the "Driver" button is selected in the booking.

Take Home Only

Only individuals with a take-home vehicle are eligible for the travel allowance.

A person is considered to have a "take-home vehicle" if a vehicle is assigned to their profile, regardless of whether the vehicle is assigned to the booking.

Take Home & Passengers Only

Travel allowance is given to those with a take-home vehicle (including vehicles not used on the job) and to individuals who don't drive on the job. However, people who drive but do not have a take-home vehicle are not eligible for the allowance.

Take Home & Drivers

Travel allowance is provided to individuals who have a take-home vehicle (including vehicles not used on the job) and to those who drive on the job.

Non Take Home STS

Individuals who do not have a take-home vehicle and are marked as "straight-to-site" (STS) are eligible for the travel allowance under the following conditions:

  • Non take-home: A person is considered "non take-home" if they do not have a vehicle assigned to their profile. The vehicle does not need to be assigned to the booking for this to apply.

  • Straight-to-site (STS): A person is considered "straight-to-site" if the "STS" button is selected in the booking.

The person can either be a passenger or a driver in the vehicle associated with the booking.

No Vehicle, Not a Passenger STS

Individuals marked as "straight-to-site" but not allocated to a vehicle can receive the travel allowance under the following conditions:

  • Non Take-Home: A person is considered "non take-home" if they do not have a vehicle assigned to their profile. The vehicle does not need to be assigned to the booking for this to apply.

  • STS: A person is considered "straight-to-site" if the "STS" button is selected in the booking.

  • Not a Passenger or Driver: The person must not be assigned to a vehicle in the booking and should not be marked as the driver.

Take Home and Non Take Home STS

Individuals who have a take-home vehicle (including vehicles not used on the job) and those without a take-home vehicle who are marked as "straight-to-site" are eligible for the travel allowance if they meet either of the following conditions:

  • Non Take-Home: A person is considered "non take-home" if they do not have a vehicle assigned to their profile. The vehicle does not need to be assigned to the booking for this to apply.

OR

  • Non Take-Home: A person is considered "non take-home" if they do not have a vehicle assigned to their profile. The vehicle does not need to be assigned to the booking for this to apply.

  • STS: A person is considered "straight-to-site" if the "STS" button is selected in the booking.

Everyone except Take Home

The travel allowance is provided to everyone except for individuals who have a take-home vehicle.

Everyone except Passenger

The travel allowance is given to everyone except for those who are allocated to vehicles as passengers.

Passenger: A person is considered a passenger if they are listed under a vehicle in the booking tile on the booking board.

Non Take Home STS or From Depot within threshold KMs

The travel allowance will be given to individuals who meet the following conditions:

  • They don't have a take-home vehicle and are marked as straight-to-site (STS), or

  • They start at the depot, are in a vehicle, and travel less than the threshold kilometres to reach the site.

Additionally, the person must meet one of these criteria:

  • STS and Non take-home, or

  • Not STS and either a Driver or a Passenger.

Everyone within threshold KMs

The travel allowance is given to everyone who travels less than the threshold kilometres to reach the site.

Common Terms Used

Take Home

A person is considered to have a "take-home vehicle" if a vehicle is assigned to their profile. This applies even if the vehicle is not assigned to the booking.

Non Take Home

A person is considered "non take home" if they do not have a vehicle assigned to their profile.

Drivers

A person is considered a driver if the "Driver" button is selected in the booking.

Passenger

A person is considered a passenger if they are listed under a vehicle in the booking tile on the booking board.

'STS' straight-to-site

A person is considered straight-to-site if the "STS" button is selected in the booking.


Travel Allowance is Per Hour

The travel allowance starts as a single value, either 0.00 or 1.00. You can manually adjust this amount in the "manually set rates" menu during the pay run.

If the 'Travel allowance is per hour' toggle is enabled, the travel allowance will be calculated based on the total shift hours.


No Travel Allowance if entitled to LAFHA

If the person is eligible for Living Away From Home Allowance (LAFHA), they will not receive the travel allowance.


Clients

This is a multi-select dropdown menu, allowing you to select as many clients as needed.

The travel allowance will only be applied to individuals working on bookings for the selected clients. This setting will not be applicable if no clients are selected.
