A person's shift is split into different payable hours.

Each payable hour can be linked to a different pay rate in your external accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB, etc).

This allows you to pay different rates for the one shift.

For example, for one shift you can pay a first rate for the 'Ordinary hours' and then a second rate for the 'Overtime hours'.

Payable Hours

  • Day Ordinary

  • Day Overtime

  • Day Extra Overtime

  • Night Ordinary

  • Night Overtime

  • Night Extra Overtime

  • Saturday Ordinary *

  • Sunday Ordinary *

  • Public Holiday Ordinary *

  • Public Holiday

* Optional

Hour Limits

You can set an hour limit on some of the 'Payable Hours'. This will be used to determine when to move on to another 'Payable Hour'.

For example, if a shift is longer than the 'Day Overtime' limit, the 'Day Extra Overtime' will be used for the remaining hours.

How does Traffio split a shift into each 'Payable Hour'?

Traffio calculates what amount of hours should be placed into each payable hour based on...

  • the payroll shift type assigned

  • where the shift start time falls into the timeframe,
โ€‹(does it start in the day timeframe or the night timeframe?),

  • what week breakdown is used,

  • and what other settings have been enabled (e.g. Limit Ordinary hours)

Each payroll shift type uses the 'Payable Hours' in different ways, so see the help article to understand this further.

Linking 'Payable Hours' to your pay rates ($) in your external accounting software

You can link your own pay rates ($) to these Traffio 'Payable Hours' per 'Payroll Category' in the 'Earnings rates' tab in the Payroll Cost Centre.

In the screenshot example, we have the 'Payroll Categories' "Traffic Controller A.1" and "Traffic Controller A.2".

As you can see, the list of 'Payable Hours' are repeated for each 'Payroll Category'.
